Year 6 2023 - 2024

There are 3 classes in Year 6; Class 6E, Class 6G and Class 6I. The teachers are Mr Eccles (6E), Ms Gee (6G) and Mrs Izon (6I), supported by Miss Ringwood and Mr Hutchinson. The teaching assistants also working with us are; Miss Galyna, Miss McAdam, Miss Habib, Mrs Carter and Mrs Guinnane. 

In Summer we are learning (you can click on the document link below to see our overview):

Reading - We will be looking at our reading skills and how to respond to new texts clearly and thoroughly.

Writing - We will be focussing on our SPaG skills in preparation for SATs: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar - and how to use it confidently in our writing.

Maths - We will be practising our general maths skills and securing our arithmetic and reasoning in preparation for SATs

History - We will be answering the question: What difference do Kings and Queens make?

P.E - We will be working with City in the Community to learn sports skills and tactics. In gymnastics, we will be learning to work with others in unison and in cannon to create sequences to perform.

R.E- Our big question is: What can we do to reduce racism? Can religion help?

P.S.H.E - We will be reflecting on what we can expect to change as we grow more independent and about different relationships.

French - We will be looking at the French words for different fruits and vegetables.

Science -  We will be exploring Evolution and Inheritance

DT - We will be making some carts and powering them with electrical circuits

Art - We will be exploring landscapes and using different techniques and styles to represent these.

Computing - We will be looking at computer networks and binary

Things to Remember

  • Our PE Days are 6I - Monday and Tuesday, 6E - Tuesday and Wednesday, 6G - Monday and Thursday.
  • PE kit must be in school on these days.
  • Please bring a re-usable water bottle to have in class. 
  • Please bring in your book bags everyday. 

Homework

  • Reading at home at least 3 times a week
  • TT Rockstars
  • 3 weekly tasks for maths, reading and spelling will be handed out every Friday and is due back every Wednesday morning.
