Autumn 1 Term 2024
This half term, we will be settling into our environment and becoming familiar with our daily routines. The children will have the opportunity to explore the indoor and outdoor areas and activities. They will be supported to work on their personal targets throughout the day.
Communication and Language: We will be learning a variety of new nursery rhymes to develop our language and foster a love for rhythm and rhyme. We will be using communication symbols to support us to develop our language skills and express our wants and needs and choices.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development: We will be developing independence, forming new friendships, practising taking turns and sharing. We will be developing appropriate ways to express and manage our feelings.
Literacy: We will be learning to sing the nursery rhymes, Humpty Dumpty, Hickery Dickery Dock and Incy Wincy Spider. We will look at the characters, sequence the rhymes using words, pictures and actions and act them out using props.
Maths: For our mathematical development, we will be naming and sequencing numbers and participating in number songs and rhymes.
Physical Development: We will focus on a hands-on, sensory-rich learning experience. We will be spending time outdoors, visiting forest school to connect with nature and engage with outdoor learning experiences. Additionally, we will work on essential life skills, like using the toilet and practising using cutlery at lunchtime, to enhance coordination and independence.
